The short version

Thistoo has no account and no sign-up. There is no camera, no microphone and no chat. People see you as a city and a silhouette. We never publish, sell or share who you are, and we never invent people to fill a quiet room.

What stays on your phone

Which room you are in, your onboarding answers if you gave them, your notification settings, whether you connected Spotify, and your plan. They are kept in the app’s own storage on your phone. We cannot restore them for you.

Your city

People see you as your city. It comes from your phone’s region, not GPS. If you turn that off in Settings, you show as Somewhere. We do not collect a precise location.

Who’s in the room

The room shows a headcount, a few nearby cities, and first names that are cities (Porto, Oslo). There are no profiles, photos of you, or friends lists. If you are first, the app says so. We do not invent people to fill it.

Spotify (optional)

You can join any room without connecting Spotify. Thistoo never plays your music. If you connect, we only store track IDs so the room can show the top three songs, with no names attached. You can disconnect anytime.

Reactions

A one-word tap such as oof is shown to the room for a second, then gone. We do not keep a history of reactions.

Anonymous stats (optional)

In Settings, anonymous usage stats can be on. While they are on, the app sends which rooms get used, never who you are. Turn the switch off anytime.

Purchases

Work and Thistoo Pass are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store, or by Google through Google Play. We never see your name, email or card. We only learn whether your subscription is active.

Notifications

If you allow them, Thistoo may send at most one a day, when a room gets busy or at a time you chose. No streaks, no guilt. Notifications are scheduled on your phone.

This website

This site is a marketing page. It does not put you in a room. If we add analytics later, this page will say so.

Backups

Your phone may include app data in your own iCloud, Google or computer backup. Those backups are under your account. We have no access to them.

Deleting your data

In the app, go to Settings and tap Clear this phone. There is no account, so that removes your answers and settings for good. Subscriptions stay with your Apple or Google account. See Delete Account.

Adults

Thistoo is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Emailing us

If you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply. Ask us anytime to delete that conversation.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to how it is used. Almost everything lives only on your phone, where you control it. For anything else, contact us.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
